EPCOR- TRANSFORMER SHOP FACILITY

The indoor air quality in the transformer shop has been a concern for some of the employees working in the EPCOR main transformer shop.

The issues of concern were the personnel exposure to the transformer oil and varsol used in the shop. Initial air quality test samples indicated that there was a high level of total VOCs in the shop specially when draining or opening burnt transformers.

IN 2012, EPCOR Management approached Mansour Engineering to investigate the issue, causes, and to make recommendations for remedy. The result of our assessment and recommendations were fully accepted by EPCOR.

IN 2013 EPCOR commissioned Mansour Engineering to act as the prime consultant to implement these recommendations, including the design, tender assistance, site review, as well as commissioning of the new mechanical system.

The new implemented system has been performing well, with very good indoor Air Quality reported.
